O Lord, rebuke me not in your anger,
nor discipline me in your wrath.
Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am languishing;
heal me, O Lord, for my bones are troubled.
Psalms 6:1,2
David’s prayer in this OT Psalm has become our security as believers today.
Through Christ's death and resurrection 2000 years ago, we were brought from darkness into light; from death into life; from being outsiders to sons of God, equal with Him as far as righteousness is concerned and forever loved. Can you believe it? Because if you can, it's yours.
This is the new covenant God made with us through Christ. Through it, He has made us sons of God through Christ in whom He will never get angry with but will always be gracious to and has promised healing to be made available for us. Ain’t that great?!
If we are in Christ, our identity is no longer 'sinners' but sons of God.
Let this truth about our identity change our activity; let it bring us to repentance(change of mind that leads to a change of behavior), not to licentiousness (doing whatever the heck we want).
SO you've sinned. Again.
Talk to God.
Don't avoid Him.
Get up.
You are already forgiven.
Walk in His forgiveness and let his kindness change you into the person you're destined to be!
